We thought we’d put together a short checklist for you so that you can double check that your website remains safe and secure through one of the busiest times of the year. These shouldn’t be news to you, but we are all sometimes guilty of neglecting this every now and then. Here’s our list:

TOP TIPS #1 – Top of the list: Check that your password isn’t too easy, and ensure it has at least some capitals, symbols and numbers. Avoid using easy-to-guess letter replacements like $ for S, 3 for E or 4 for A.
Here’s an example of a strong password: 8Sx=5%6+d9+z

TOP TIPS #2 – Change your passwords every few months, or at least twice per year.

TOP TIPS #3 – Never use easy-to-guess login names like “admin”. This is one of the first login names that gets tested by hackers. If you need help creating a new login name, please contact us.

TOP TIPS #4 – Don’t store your passwords in a file on your computer. If you computer gets hacked, your website is at risk too if you kept your passwords in a file.
