Upgrades to WordPress Core System

A lot of the time, it’s a good idea to stay up to date with current updates to WordPress core system software. Updates are rolled out at a fairly regular basis by WordPress .org and are notified in the backend CMS system as an available update. However, we recommend you do not update the system yourself.

Here’s why:

Latest versions of WordPress core may not be backwards compatible with other functions that you have installed in your website. The result is that you may take a perfectly working system and upgrade it unnecessarily, and possibly result in the system breaking. Not every release in WordPress core is necessary to keep your website in a healthy operating condition. Actually, if your website is working, we think you don’t need to upgrade it unless you’ve identified a new WordPress core feature that could help your business run more efficiently or profitably.

There are occasional WordPress core upgrades that are promoted due to security concerns and roll out automatically. Upgrades like that are usually benign, meaning they do not affect the way WordPress functions, they merely strengthen an element within the system to prevent unwanted access or changes. You won’t need to do anything to get those updates as we ensure they roll out to your website as needed.
