BOTANY TOWN CENTRE AND LYNNMALL SHOPPING CENTRE HOLDS BAG AND SHOE DRIVE IN SUPPORT OF DRESS FOR SUCCESS
For many women bags and shoes are must-have accessories, but for some they are unaffordable luxuries. The good news, for women currently rummaging through the wardrobe and wondering whether all those shoes and handbags will work with their style this season, is that there’s a solution which both unclutters the cupboard and benefits society.
This month, Botany Town Centre and LynnMall Shopping Centre are inviting women to donate their unwanted bags and shoes to support working women. The bag and shoe drive will be running from 13 – 26 October and aims to encourage women to bring in their nearly-new or gently-used handbags and shoes. In launching a clothing campaign in September, LynnMall Shopping Centre became the first official Dress for Success drop-off point in West Auckland and Botany Town Centre the first in East/South Auckland.
Dress for Success is a charity that helps women in need to get jobs and keep working by providing clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and advice to boost their self-esteem and independence. It relies on donations of these items in order to provide its services.
All women who bring in their bags and shoes will go in the draw to win a spring-summer wardrobe from Botany Town Centre or LynnMall Shopping Centre to the value of $1,000 and a special consultation with one of New Zealand’s leading stylists.
Jennifer Manning, Senior Centre Manager says it is a pleasure to be supporting Dress for Success and the great work that it does to help women regain confidence. This is an organisation that plays a truly important role in society by helping women transition from being either unemployed or on a low income to being self-sufficient for themselves and their family.
A number of well-known New Zealand celebrities also support Dress for Success, including Tina Cross and Kay Gregory who have both donated their own bags and shoes to support the cause.
From October 13, Botany Town Centre and LynnMall Shopping Centre will be collecting nearly new and gently used handbags and shoes. LynnMall’s drop-off point will be located at the Information Kiosk opposite Muffin Break and Botany Town Centre’s at the Visitors Centre near Farmers.
