Clean Heat impact on household electricity usage 'neutral'
Contrary to predictions, Environment Canterbury’s Clean Heat project, which has seen thousands of Christchurch homeowners install electric heat pumps, has not increased overall household electricity consumption in Christchurch.

Upper South Island cuts peak power demand
Eight Upper South Island electricity distribution networks are collaborating to reduce peak demand on their networks, which is lessening the load on the New Zealand transmission system and putting downward pressure on transmission costs and wholesale electricity prices.

Orion posts $49.9m net profit for 2009
Christchurch-based electricity network company Orion New Zealand Limited has announced a $49.9m net profit after tax for the year ended 31 March 2009, $4.4m above its statement of intent forecast.
