Tag Team racing debuts on stunning Wellington day

Wellington City — Wellington turned on a simply perfect day and close to 900 triathletes (a record for the national champs) enjoyed the conditions in the final round of the Contact Tri Series, an event that doubled as the National Age Group Championships over the standard distance and provided a glimpse into the future of the sport.

Wellington set to host record breaking Triathlon Champs

Wellington City — The most popular Contact Tri Series in history will conclude with the most popular ever National Championships over the standard distance in Wellington this Saturday when over 800 (and still climbing) participants line up in various events on the city waterfront, including the biggest ever age group field in the history of the Contact Tri Series.

Tanner a late inclusion in Oceania Field

Wellington City — World number 16 ranked triathlete Debbie Tanner is a late inclusion in the field at Saturday’s ITU Oceania Triathlon Championships in Wellington, with the 27 year old confirming her first race of the season as she recovers from Achilles tendon problems in the off season.

Ellice overcomes altitude set back

Wellington City — New Plymouth triathlete Clark Ellice has overcome an altitude and mountain stream induced scare to be ready to race at this weekend’s Contact Tri Nationals in Wellington, an event that also carries with it ITU Oceania Championship status.

Reed books NZ Beijing spot with Oceania victory

Wellington City — Blustery but warm conditions greeted triathletes in the ITU Oceania Triathlon Championships in Wellington today and it was Shane Reed (NZL) who mastered them best to take out the elite men’s race in a busy day of racing that also carried NZ Standard Distance titles and points for the final round of the Contact Energy My Sport Series.
