Mt Tongariro - update 1

21 November 3pm: There was a brief eruption from Mt Tongariro in the central North Island at approximately 1:30pm on Wednesday 21 November, New Zealand time.

The Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management (MCDEM) and GNS Science volcanologists are monitoring the situation and further information will be released as soon as it is available.
