Temporary Closures of Fernery and Display Houses
The upgrade of the Fernery and Display Houses will see the facility periodically closed to the public during the next 10 days.
Scaffolding is about to be erected so that roof fans can be installed in houses two and three. For the safety of the public, the Fernery and Display Houses will be closed for up to two days while the scaffolding is erected and also when it is dismantled.
“We will have signs up on the access paths to say whether the fernery is open that day or not, and we’ll also update the Council’s Facebook page,” says Curator Pukekura Park Chris Connolly.
The upgrade is making good progress with the new roof installed over house one and its windows soon to be installed, and the metal framework for the new plant propagation area almost finished.
The contractor has moved their equipment off the Fred Parker Lawn and the lawn’s reinstatement will begin next week.
