It's game time in the Dowse Square

Grab your shorts and trainers and head down to the Dowse Square and Laings Road for a free family sports day out.

Hutt City Council’s Street Play festival takes to the streets on Sunday 24 February from 10am – 2pm. Entry is free.

Residents are encouraged to come down and get hot and sweaty as the area is transformed into a giant sports park for the day, with everything from martial arts to rugby league and zumba to gymnastics taking place.

Stations will be set up through the Dowse Square and Laings Road for people to try new sports and pick up some tips from the experts.

The Street Play festival will feature karate, squash, gymnastics, basketball, swing dancing, tennis, Les Mills fitness classes, football, rugby league, zumba and street hockey.

In addition to the Street Play event, the annual Polish Festival is taking place in the Horticultural Hall from 11am – 3pm with plenty of Polish music, dance, food and culture
