Sawmill fire in New Plymouth

A sawmill has been on fire in New Plymouth this evening. 

7 fire trucks from New Plymouth, Oakura, Waitara and Inglewood attended the blaze which started  before 11pm at the Taranaki Pine building north of Bell Block.

The fire was upgraded to third alarm status due to the nature of the incident and the threat to surrounding buildings.

It's not known how the fire started.
