Fire at Hawera's Fonterra site

Firefighters are currently battling a blaze at Fonterra's Whareroa site south of Hawera.

5 crews and a support unit from New Plymouth were called to the fire at 1:30 this afternoon which is believe to have started in the boiler house.

Central Fire Service communications shift manager said the area is very difficult for firefighters to access.

The fire is currently contained.
