Not to 'Old Skool' to have fun!
Just about everybody has either ridden or been for a ride on one, love them or loath them, even the toughest motorcycle enthusiast probable learnt to ride on one. What am I talking about? Classic Honda’s, Yamaha’s, Suzuki’s and Kawasaki’s.
Faithful members of the ‘Vintage Japanese Motor Cycle Club’ of New Zealand, made the trek to Canterbury’s thermal adventure capital, Hanmer Springs, to reminnis and pay tribute to the breed of motorcycles that put this mode of transport in to the reach of average kiwi boys and girls like you and me.
They came from both ends of the country riding bikes from the 70’s to later models, of these Japanese classics, the members enjoy a club dinner at the Hotel Hanmer and Convention Centre. The evening was officiated by Kiwi Stig (http://www.facebook.com/KiwiStig ), with lots of hard luck stories, funny anecdotes and the occasional grope from Judy, a good night was had by all.
Talking with the club captain and one of the founding members, Ross said although this was one of the smallest gatherings in recent years the club is still strong and are always keen to have new members join the group. So dust of that old jappa in the shed and send Ross & Judy an email. ross.judy@xtra.co.nz
Hotel Hanmer and Convention centre is the perfect place for you clubs events and if your clubs involves wheels and a motor, Kiwi Stig is sure to pop in to meet the team.
