UCI Juniors Track Cycling World Championship – Day 1 qualifying

New Zealand will ride off for the gold medal with Australia on the opening day of the UCI Juniors Track Cycling World Championships in Glasgow today.

The New Zealand quartet of Liam Aitcheson, Regan Gough, Josh Haggerty and Connor Stead qualified second fastest in the opening qualifying session of the championships at the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow.

The quartet clocked 4:12.056 behind top qualifiers and defending champions Australia who clocked 4:09.056. Russia meet hosts Great Britain in the ride-off for the bronze.

The New Zealand team sprint combination will also be in action on the first night.
