“See what you are looking at and look at what you see” That is the advice that established North Island Artist Sue Dent gives to anyone about art.
In September, Terrace Downs is proud to host two talented artists from the North Island. Jo Gallagher and Sue Dent have come together to produce an exhibition that represents everything that is rural NZ.

Jo Gallagher, is an established King country artist who has developed a distinctive style that captures the unique qualities of heartland New Zealand. Her works show landscapes and animals that are special to Nz from the north to the south.

Sue Dent is an artist and art teacher from Tauranga who works with a variety of mediums and textures. Her diverse works are fuelled by a constant hunger to experiment with the new. From stunning mares to perfectly plump fruit, Sues works show that she has mastered the skill of painting and her works leave you with a feeling of familiarity.
Both of these artists have created works that leave you with a strong sense of pride in where we live and a connection to home. This exhibition will showcase New Zealand to travellers and locals in a way that will not only invoke memories of our land but also remind people of what makes NZ unique and special.

"We are so fortunate to have these two artists travel down from the North Island to attend the opening and they welcome you to come and meet with them and enjoy the delicious buffet and great company that the Terrace Downs opening nights are renowned for."

The exhibition opening is to be held on Friday 6th September at 6:30 to be seated by 7pm priced at $45 pp and includes complimentary beverage on arrival.

Terrace Downs Art exhibitions feature a unique opening night where you are able to dine with the artists and enjoy great company, a delicious Buffet, prepared by Terrace Downs wonderful chefs and wonderful music from the soulful Kris Trousselot on the piano. Bookings for the opening are essential. The exhibition is free to attend and will run from the 6th September – 3rd October 2013 during resort opening hours.
