New Zealand tourism quality assessment organisation, Qualmark, recently recognised the outstanding refurbishment efforts of the newly re-opened Novotel Christchurch Cathedral Square, awarding the hotel an exceptional 4 Star Plus rating.

The Qualmark Hotel rating acknowledges the success of the Christchurch property’s 30-month refit and renewal, which saw Novotel officially re-open to great success on 4th September 2013 after closing its doors in February 2011 following The Great Earthquake.

Novotel Christchurch Cathedral Square General Manager, Carl Braddock says seeing Novotel Christchurch rated the newest 4 Star Plus hotel in town with the Qualmark stamp of approval is a great moment of pride for the team in Christchurch and Accor in New Zealand.

“The extensive refit of Novotel, which was only a year old when the earthquake hit, saw only minor structural repair and extensive cosmetic repair, mostly to the exterior panels giving a it look as good as the day it opened in 2010,” says Carl.

“The Qualmark rating signals to the world that we are not only fit for purpose but stylishly handsome in our rooms and facilities, and we look forward to welcoming guests to our 4 Star Plus hotel.”

Qualmark is New Zealand tourism’s official quality assurance organisation, providing a trusted guide to quality travel experiences. The 4 Star Plus rating awarded the 154-room Novotel recognises the high quality of the hotel’s combination of Premium, Executive Rooms and Suites, The Square Restaurant and Bar, gymnasium, and meetings and conference facilities.

Novotel Christchurch Cathedral Square takes pride of place in Cathedral Square, and is just a short walk from many of the city’s re-emerging areas, including the art deco shopping precinct on New Regent Street and the innovative and bright Re:Start shopping mall, constructed from shipping containers.
