HELP===> invasion!!!! The battle of the ANTS!!!

"HELP...my house is being invaded by ants....!!!!"  said an ACES pest control customer this week.

Our reply was "HOLD on we are coming out as quick as we can......"

We arrived to a Massey home in West Auckland. Our customer showed us her bathroom. Yes it was covered "black" in ants. It was the White footed house ant ( black ant)  an unwanted visitor from Queensland Australia in the 1960s. They had moved their nest inlcuding their "babies" (white pupa) into her bathroom.

I explained to my customer that these ants normally live in  cavities such as walls, ceiling spaces under houses, anywhere inside your house thats nice and warm like their native home in Australia. Typically these are the North West facing sides of the building.

"WHY?... " asked my customer asked, "they were not here this morning!"

I replied, "The ants move nest location when they are upset for some reason. See if I can find a reason for you."

Following an inspection around and under the house, we found what was upsetting the black ants. Strong thick trails of brown ants where moving their nest around under her house. This was the Argentine ant, an aggressive tramp species from Argentina. These ants bite and  aggressively compete with the other species just because of their sheer numbers.

The Argentine ants had upset the black ants coming in from the outside of the house, and the black ants had run away as far possible. That is the middle of my customers house, her bathroom!! Quite a shock for her to find all these ants suddenly in her bathroom.

ACES completed the treatment an now our customer is ant free and has her bathroom to herself again!!!
