Hamish McKay claimed the title of Mizone Rapid Ultimate Sports Presenter 2007 at Aotea Square today.

The countries top news presenters and commentators including Tony Veitch, Hamish McKay, Michelle Pickles, Curt Jones, Brendan Telfer, Scotty Stevenson, Mark Richardson and Ian Jones took up the challenge to ‘Put their bodies where their mouths are’ completing 5 events in front of a lunch time crowd in Auckland.

Sponsored by Mizone Rapid, New Zealand’s No 1 Triathlete Bevan Docherty was on hand to support the event, guiding the presenters on the ‘Cycle and Run Blitz’.

Hosted by Clint Brown the competition required the presenters to complete 5 challenges including the ‘Cycle and Run Blitz’ assisted by some of NZ’s finest athletes and coaches. Other events included a ‘surf session’ with Daniel Kereopa, ‘Rowing’ with Eric Murray, ‘Bowling’ with Dave Richardson and a Basketball ‘Shoot Out’ with Darryl Cartwright.

Hilarity prevailed at the ‘Cycle & Run Blitz’ giving the competitors a taste of how difficult the transition from cycling to running is in the gruelling sport of Triathlon. Trembling legs at this challenge was the order of the day with the Sports Presenters providing spectators an entertaining example only to be commended for their outstanding commitment to task.

Mizone Rapid is thrilled with the success of the event. “The good natured attitude and willingness to participate by some of the cream of NZ’s Media and Sport was a great way to welcome Bevan home” says Amanda Johansson Brand Manager Mizone Rapid.

Bevan will be in New Zealand until late April and will be available for media interviews during this time.
