Which New Zealand campervan and motorhome providers are maximising their market share online?
There are heaps of bigger and smaller campervan providers in New Zealand, due to the fact that lots of tourists, but also Kiwis consider travelling by campervan or motorhome in this country. FIRST, a leading digital marketing agency has taken a close look at different campervan providers to find out, which of them are leading online by utilising FIRST’s Ranking Based Reach (RBR) analysis framework. Moreover they carried out a consumer survey discovering what consumers really want.
Some interesting facts could be revealed, showing that the campervan and motorhome market is highly competitive with smaller and bigger players trying to increase their number of bookings. Furthermore, FIRST discovered that the RBR leader is Maui, followed by Apollo Camper and Britz, which shows the strong presence of these companies in search. Smaller players will need to invest in a robust and smart digital strategy if they want to compete online.
Moreover the survey revealed that more than 20% of Kiwis have already hired a campervan or motorhome at least once, leaving the question open, why 80% did not hire a campervan so far?
60% out of these 80% mentioned that travelling via campervan or motorhome was just not their thing. The remaining 40% responded that they would be encouraged to hire a campervan, if they would receive a better range of vehicles or received suggested itineraries that excite them among other reasons.
Interesting was also to see, if Kiwis would rather travel in New Zealand by campervan/motorhome or somewhere else in the world. Of seven answer options, New Zealand was the number 1 spot for Kiwis travelling with campervans, number 3 was the UK and number 5 Europe (without the UK).
