Stunning Sporting Success for Rangi Ruru

Hockey

Rangi Ruru Girls’ School won the Canterbury Secondary School Girls Premier hockey league final on Friday night. Rangi’s Director of Sport, Jo Fogarty described the stunning win as “A complete performance by the whole team; they worked together like a well-oiled machine.”

The final saw Rangi go up against foes St Margaret’s with the final score 2-1.

Skiing

Rangi Ruru’s Ski Team has taken out 3 of the top 5 places in the women’s team results at the Canterbury Secondary Schools Ski and Snowboarding Championships held at Mount Hutt on Thursday. The school also won the Girls Team Ski Race title.

 

Rangi’s Director of Sport, Jo Fogarty says, “Not only did they perform well individually, but clearly as a team, the girls performed just as well which is very pleasing.”

Duathlon

Rangi Ruru’s duathlon teams also cleaned up at the Canterbury Secondary Schools Duathlon champs on Monday in rather wintery conditions at Ruapuna Raceway.

Rangi Ruru placings were as follows:

U14 Individual Girls Race 
2nd - Charlotte Spurway

U16 Teams
1st - Ava Morrow and Meredith Seeto
2nd - Meg Smith, Sam Vance and Danielle McLaughlin
3rd - Rosa Jones, Holly Blake and Francesca Gallaway
4th - Holly Ffowcs-Williams and Isabella Inkson

U19 Teams
1st - Chloe Jenkins and Marisol Hunter
3rd - Neve Olsen and Olivia Reiber

 

Canty Hockey Secondary School Division 2 Competition - winners

The Rangi Rangi Ruru 3rd XI Hockey won the Canterbury Hockey SS Div 2 competition on Wednesday, with a 6 - 4 win over Cashmere.
