It wasn’t only a top weekend for Rangi Ruru on the waters of Lake Ruataniwha in the Maadi Cup read here where they won the title of top girls’ school at rowing’s Maadi Cup.

The school’s touch team that has lost only two games this season – Saturday against Columba and Sunday against St Hildas - finished as 3rd South Island Girls School, 1st Chch school in the weekends South Isalnd Secondary School’s Touch competition.

Assistant Director of Sport Mandy Anderson says it’s been a pleasure to work with the team and they have produced some outstanding results this term.

“Our touch team has achieved this latest success on the back of winning the Christchurch schools competition last Wednesday. We are really looking forward to Nationals in December,” she says.

11 medals at the South Island Secondary School Athletics Competition at the weekend topped off a strong weekend off for Rangi Ruru – 1 gold, 2 silver and ten bronze (one was for the team relay).

Director of Sport, Jo Fogarty says those who didn’t place did however achieve personal best times or distances which shows excellent individual progress.

“We are also very proud of our Waterpolo team which placed 2nd in the South Island earlier last week, and our Premier Tennis team which came 5th in the recent NZSS Teams Tennis Championships,” says Ms Fogarty.
