On the 18th January 2008 Police were advised of a 52 year old male who had gone missing from a Kumara address.

David DAVIES of Kumara was last seen leaving his Kumara address at 8.00pm on the 17th January 2007 in a White Nissan Datsun 4x4 ute, with canopy, registration CYL893.

The vehicle has a full tank of fuel. It is unknown where Mr DAVIES may have gone.

Mr DAVIES is described as a 52 year old male of Polynesian decent, 175cm tall and of solid build. He has short black hair and a black handlebar moustache with grey sides.

He was last seen wearing a teal coloured tee-shirt, navy tack pants and white shoes.

Police have serious concerns for Mr DAVIES welfare as he is a diabetic who is reliant on insulin injections four times a day along with other medication for his general poor health. He does not have any of this medication with him.

He has no money with him or any access to any means of financial support.

Mr DAVIES has family in Nelson, Christchurch and Greymouth but has not made contact with any of these people.

An aerial search of the four wheel drive tracks around the Kumara area is being conducted this afternoon in an attempt to locate his vehicle.

Police request that any sighting of Mr DAVIES vehicle, registration CYL893, be reported as soon as possible.

Although Police hold serious concerns for Mr DAVIES safety there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
