NZ natural alternative health remedies/therapies under draconian assault by Medsafe
The Therapeutics Goods and Medicines Act is a Bill that has twice been defeated in Parliament. The bill wants to harmonise our alternative health industry with that of Australia. This move would disseminate the NZ alternative health industry. However what is not being said is that health minister Annette King is acting not in the interests of kiwis but of the Word Trade Organisation which NZ is a yes sir, member state. Therefore because she hasn’t come clean with the public over why the need to have our industry harmonised with and regulated by Australia, few fully comprehend who is in fact driving this agenda and most under estimate the challenge NZ now faces in keeping its alternative natural therapies.
Codex Alimentarius is the WTO food code and is a global initiative to standardise the worlds food and medicines. Packaged as being for the safety and wellbeing of consumers the Codex commission is rife with bio tech and big pharma officials chairing meetings in which no alternative health group is allowed to speak and only one has spectator status.
Make no mistake the government will try every which way to comply to the WTO global food code, including scare tactics that have little basis in reality. One of the ways is already being felt by individuals within in the industry.
Health Freedom is a group set up to ‘fight’ the governments underhanded and draconian moves has this to say
“The Natural Health Industry has recently been warned by Medsafe that no natural products provider may supply information that would lead the reader to conclude that the product may treat, prevent, cure or alleviate any disease. Medsafe have further stated it is illegal for dietary supplements to make claims relating to any disease appearing in Schedule I of the Medicines Act 1981 (which contains all known diseases).
- • Website owners have been contacted with vague letters from Medsafe giving them little notice to comply.
- • They have been told to remove sentences on their website and advertising material that pertain to the therapeutic benefits of certain natural substances, natural products and supplements.
- • They have been told not to link to websites that have research proving their claims or to of have research proving their claims on their website if the website also has natural products on it.
- • They have begun raiding businesses and confiscating products. (Health Freedom is in the process of investigating exactly how many businesses have been effected).
These two activities has lead to several businesses loosing a substantial income and may even result in the loss of their business if Medsafe are allow to continue.”
No one has ever died by taking natural supplements, yet thousands have died taking prescription medicine or have had major complications. What we are seeing here in NZ is a major witch hunt in order to comply with WTO codex Alimentarius which plans take over via heavy handed draconian regulation the entire worlds natural medicine and therapies.
