Adams Travelines today confirmed its success in the bid to provide urban bus services in Whangarei.

The Northland Regional Council announced the outcome of the bid process on Friday 4th April.

“Adams Travelines is delighted to be the successor in the tender process for the provision of urban bus services to Whangarei” says Bruce Emson, CEO of NZ Bus.

The existing Adams Travelines business has primarily been working in the School Bus and Charter operation and has a long standing contract with Marsden Point Oil Refinery. Adams has 26 buses of which 9 have been specifically built for the charter business.

“The opportunity to grow our business in Whangarei is an exciting one”, says Bruce Emson,” with increased services, we will be looking to recruit additional bus drivers to join our team.”

“Additionally we will be investing in new buses for Whangarei. 10 new MAN Euro 4 buses straight from the production line will be delivered to Whangarei in June. These new buses will meet the latest emission standards (Euro 4), will be air-conditioned and completely accessible with low floor entrance which makes entry and exit easy for all passengers. This investment will deliver our customers the very best in comfort and our local community a bus experience that is on par with the best in the industry”

says Mr Emson.

Mr Emson said “Providing public transport services is about listening to and serving people in our community. It is important to us to be an involved and contributing member of the local community, focussed on the needs of the people we serve”
