Police Southern Communications Centre is receiving numerous calls about adverse weather conditions.

There is a strong southerly storm travelling up the island.

This is causing slips, flooding, streong winds, rain, hail and snow.

It is concentrated in the Southland and Dunedin areas at present.

Many roads in the areas are affected by these weather conditions.

Police are requesting motorists to take care and allow extra time if they are going out.

Roading authorities are out in force to try and clear the affected roads.

Patience and care are required.
