MANUKAU CITY

Just after 9pm on Saturday evening 7th of June 2008 three offenders entered the Riverton Liquor shop in Riverton drive, Manurewa.

The lone attendant was shot in the chest before the offenders left with an amount of cash and liquor in a dark coloured four door sedan.

The 30 year old male victim underwent emergency surgery last night. His medical condition today is described as critical.

The three men police are looking for are described as Maori or Polynesian, wearing black or dark coloured hooded sweat shirts.

A sweat shirt worn by one of the offenders had white Maori style writing on the front.

The offender carrying the firearm was about 6 feet (183cms) tall and the other two are shorter.

The firearm used was a .22 calibre rifle with a wooden stock and a dark full length barrel with a small sight at the end.

The vehicle drove in an easterly direction towards Porchester Road.

The focus of enquiries today is an examination of the scene, door to door enquiries and securing CCTV footage recorded during the robbery.

Police hope to release this to media this afternoon.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the offenders or the vehicle parked near the shop before the robbery or speeding way from Riverton Drive afterwards.

'We have launched the equivalent of a Homicide investigation. Someone will know who these men are.

I appeal to them to contact me by ringing 09 2950200, in strict confidence if required' said Detective Senior Senior Sergeant Dave PIZZINI, Officer in charge.
