At about 12:00pm today Police were advised of a man been swept out to sea at Parapara Inlet.
He has been sailing in a small dingy in the inlet, capsized and was swept out by the outgoing tide.
Local boats manned by volunteers were launched from both Collingwood and Tarakohe, as well as rescue helicopters from Motueka and Nelson.
The man was located off the mouth of the Parapara Inlet at about 1.00pm. He was brought ashore at Milnthorpe Quay.
He was then taken to the Golden bay Medical Centre, by local St John Volunteer ambulance, and treated for hyperthermia.
The man is a 68 year old local Collingwood man.
