Boating fatality in Bay of Plenty District, 12:00pm

At approximately 9.50am this morning a young girl holidaying in the Taupo area with her family was water skiing on Lake Taupo with their family boat.

At the completion of her water skiing the young girl has been struck by another boat in the area.

The young girl has sustained very serious injuries which have proved fatal.

Taupo Police are carrying out a full investigation in relation to then incident. All relevant authorities such as Maritime Safety Authority have been notified.

A more detailed press statement will be released by Taupo Police at approximately 4.30pm this afternoon.
