Weather conditions and roading in Bay of Plenty District, 6:00pm 7 Mar 2009

Police advise that there has been lightening strikes that have impacted on the Taraunga , Papamoa, Greeton areas.
As a result there is no power coverage in these areas at the moment. This has also effected the traffic signals which at the moment are not operational at this moment. Police have been able to conduct points duty at some of the major intersections in the area but are not in a position to be at all sites.
Police request that motorists delay their non urgent travel at the moment until traffic signals are restored.
The power company is working on the issue.
