Personal Appeal

The officer leading the investigation into the disappearance of two year old Aisling Symes, made a personal appeal to whoever has her or who knows where she is, to contact him directly.

Inspector Gary Davey briefed media this afternoon and pleaded for the person responsible for her disappearance to call him on 0800 4 2475 464.

"I'm personally appealing to whoever has Aisling or who knows what's happened to her, to call me," Mr Davey said.

"Whoever you are, you might be scared or intimidated by Police activity over the past week. Don't be - call me. We just want to know where Aisling is."

He said he was mindful of the fact schools reopen tomorrow and that there would be parents and caregivers who were more cautious about their childrens' safety in light of Aisling's disappearance.

"I encourage communities to take whatever safety precautions they feel appropriate with regard to young children, without becoming unduly fearful.

"Schools in the area will also be aware of the Police investigation and, I'm sure, will be providing pupils with safety advice and reassurance."

At least 60 staff are involved in the search for Aisling but still, the last confirmed sighting of her was at 5.15pm on Monday, October 5, in Longburn St, Henderson.
