Escaped Prisoner

Police are seeking the assistance of the public to locate Jason Pope, who escaped from police custody at approximately 5.00 pm yesterday evening while he waited to attend the Manukau District Court. Pope walked through an insecure door and exited the court building onto Wiri Station Road.

Police have commenced an internal investigation on the circumstances of the escape along with enquiries to locate Pope.

Pope is a 33-year-old male European of medium-thin build with short brown hair and 177 cm in height. At the time, Pope was wearing a black short sleeve t-shirt with the word "AIR" on the front, black or dark coloured pants with white sneakers and was carrying a black long-sleeved top. He was clean shaven at the time and has heavily tattooed lower arms.
