Rescue in progress at Dog Island

BLUFF

At 5.40pm Police were notified by Bluff Marine Radio that a fishing vessel had found an upturned boat north of Dog Island. One male was rescued and transported to Bluff by a Southport vessel Takatimu.
A second male who was on this upturned boat is currently missing and a search is underway.

The search is being conducted in the vicinity of Dog Island with Bluff and Riverton Coast Guard vessels and two helicopters with night vision equipment all searching.
