Ranui Ice Cream Robbery - Female Arrested

An 18 year old female has appeared in the Waitakere District Court on a charge of aggravated robbery after her arrest at a Ranui address.

On the 29 May 2010 five offenders armed with hammers, a knife and a pistol went into the Ranui Takeaway Store and stole a large quantity of ice cream.

Henderson Police have been investigating the store robbery.

Results of a forensic examination identified one of the offenders involved and a search warrant was duly executed yesterday at an address in Ranui.

Clothing and weapons consistent to those featured in security surveillance footage in the store was discovered at the address. A gas powered firearm was recovered.

Further forensic examination of the recovered items will be carried out. The 18 year old female is remanded in custody until Monday.

Police say a large volume of information has been received from the public and has been of assistance to their investigations.

Investigators are confident the remaining four offenders will soon be apprehended and similarly charged.
