Name Suppression Lifted for Two Wellington Murder-Accused

WELLINGTON CITY

The two men jointly charged with murder, in relation to a Wellington assault last year, have had their name suppression lifted.

They are 22 year-old Fred Pokoati and 23 year-old Jarrad Townley. They are jointly charged in relation to an assault in Te Aro which occurred overnight on the 3rd/4th of October 2009.

The victim, aged 44 at the time, never regained consciousness and he passed away in Wellington Hospital on the 17th of May 2010. The victim was 45 year-old Etuina Sipili.

Both Pokoati and Townley have been remanded in custody to reappear in the Wellington District Court on 19 August 2010.
