Lower Hutt Police warn against dangers of methadone
Lower Hutt Police are urging people of the dangers of methadone, after a small pharmacy bag containing the medication was dropped in Naenae earlier today.
Between 9am and 10am, a small green and white pharmacy bag containing two small green bottles of clear liquid methadone was dropped in Hillary Court in Naenae.
Sergeant Alan Cappleman says police have conducted a thorough search around the area today but it has failed to locate this medicine.
“We believe that the bag and contents may have been picked up by somebody. The bottles are clearly labelled as to its contents and the fact that it is prescription-only medicine.”
Sergeant Cappleman says methadone could very well be fatal if consumed.
“We’re urging anyone who may have picked up this medicine to contact us immediately or return it to any Police Station or pharmacy as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information should phone Lower Hutt Police on (04) 560 2669 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
