Police investigating the murder of Raymond Piper have withdrawn the charge against 17 year-old Louie Anderson.

He faced one charge of being party to the murder of Mr Piper, which has been withdrawn this morning in the Porirua District Court.

Head of the investigation Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam says there is no reasonable prospect of conviction, taking into account the evidence now available to the Police.

"Yesterday, Ainsley Brent Anderson pleaded guilty to the murder of Raymond Piper. He will appear in the Wellington High Court for sentencing on the 26th of November 2010."

DSS Oxnam says Mr Piper's family are aware of the charge being withdrawn. They want time to grieve and say their final goodbyes to Raymond and will not be making any further comment to media.
