Update to Tornado On Aucklands North Shore

At this stage reports have damage limited to Aucklands North Shore.

Damage has occurred between Albany Mall through Glenfield to Birkenhead.

Emergency services are still making a full appreciation of the overall situation.

Police advise the public to stay indoors and limit travel until weather settles.

We advise that travel around the Albany Mall area should be avoided due to damage and congestion.

Summary of damage so far is
Injuries at Albany mall area. One male has died as a result of injuries sustained. A vehicle has been overturned. and a number of injuries have occurred in the area
Trees down around Glenfield Kaipatiki area (roofs damaged)
Kaipatiki Road is also closed for at least 4 hours.
Rosedale Road has a vehicle overturned. Roofing debri in the air.
Birkenhead/Beachhaven, burst watermain and tree through house
Unsworth Heights, roofs off
Rosedale area has Truck jackknived
