Man charged with murder

A woman who died following a shooting in Otaki has been named as Stacey Marie Lake, and a man has now been charged with her murder.

Stacey Lake, 23, from Otaki, was flown to Wellington Hospital after the firearms incident at a house in Ngaio Street at approximately 4.10pm yesterday (Sunday, 8 May).

A 26-year-old man from Otaki was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm following the incident.

A homicide investigation was launched when Stacey Lake died from her injuries early this morning, and as a result an additional charge of murder has now been laid against the 26-year-old.

Police are keen to talk to anyone who was in Nagio Street area around 4pm yesterday or has any other information which might assist the investigation.
