Shop keeper chases, catches robber
Today 25/09/07 at 5.15pm the owner of the Staverly Street Dairy was confronted by a robber with a knife demanding money and cigarettes.
The robber helped himself to cigarettes and tobacco before fleeing the dairy.
As the robber flead he dropped his knife and the dairy owner gave chase and caught the robber in the carpark and with the help of other store owners held him until Police arrived.
A 14 year old male will be appearing in the court facing a charge of aggravated robbery.
Detective Sergeant Anderson of the Hornby Police said that it was great work by the dairy owner and other store keepers.
As soon as the dairy owner was aware the offender didnt have the knife he took action. These dairy owners are sick of being seen as easy targets.
