The World Heli Challenge 2011at Wanaka NZ was a huge success for the event organizers, sponsors and film makers alike. The snow was stable enough to ride the steeps, the weather window opened up with cold blue skies, and crews flocked from around the globe to throw down in what has become one of the most talked about events in Australasia.

The Freeride Day showcases the acrobatic and aerial skills of the athletes. Day 1 we headed up the slopes just outside of Makarora to a winter playground of untracked powder terrain. 1 run to suss out a line and 2 runs of freestyle expression sessions. By the time we left there wasn't much fresh pow left ha!

Occy made a guest appearance in Wanaka and we took the opportunity to visit Jackson Bay on the West Coast for a cheeky surf session.

Then it was all on for the Extreme Day where the legendary and epic location of Mt Albert was once again going to be the venue for competitors to throw down 2 runs, best run wins!
Not only did we have a challenging venue to ride, we staged the LZ off a farmers barge in the middle of Lake Wanaka which I understand is a World first.

It was all over so quickly and I’m counting down the days to the 2012 adventure!

See you all next year. Thanks for watching.
