Fatal crash near Turangi-Tokaanu overnight

A 21 year old Wellington woman has been killed in a single car crash on State Highway 41 near Turangi-Tokaanu late last night.

Senior Constable Dave Frazer, from the Taupo Police Serious Crash Unit, says the vehicle was travelling north on State Highway 41 at approximately 11:15pm, when the driver lost control on a bend.

Senior Constable Frazer says the initial investigation indicates the car has spun across the road and rolled. He says she was the sole occupant of the car.

He says it is too early in the investigation to comment on any other details in relation to the crash.

The crash victim will not be named today.
