Three people will appear in court this afternoon after Police today located a clandestine laboratory used to make methamphetamine at a house in the Christchurch suburb of Casebrook.

Two Christchurch men aged 40 and 47 years and a 20 year old Christchurch woman were arrested this morning at the house where the clandestine laboratory was located.

All three will be appearing in the Rangiora Court this afternoon [Wednesday 28 September] facing charges of possessing equipment and materials for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Detective Sergeant Dorothy McPhail says she has real concerns about the location of the lab which was located in a house next door to a children's playground.

"Not only were those in the house where the lab was found at high risk, as well as neighbouring homes, but the children from the neighbourhood using the playground were also potentially at risk should there have been an explosion," she says.

"Anyone who has any information about people manufacturing drugs should contact Police at the earliest opportunity."

Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers, 0800 555111.
