Deeanne Hobbs is a popular Nelson based artist whohas created a unique style for her paintings through her love of fashion, colour, and texture.

The exhibition, aptly titled “Fashionably Passionate” is about exploring the passion of connecting art and fashion together. Her works in mixed media can be described as modern with an Antique-Vintage feel which is very much indicative of the current fashion trends that we see today, where we have returned to the style of the past with an added 2012 twist.

Learning different concepts and techniques through exploring all areas of the arts, Deeanne has enjoyed creating these unique inspiring works for Selwyn viewers. Deeanne’s creativity does not end with her painting and as a result of her consistent determination, runs a very successful business in Nelson that showcases her own clothing line, home ware, jewellery and artworks. Deeanne is no stranger to success and this was exemplified In 2007 where stuff.co.nz released an article about the NZ Affordable arts show. Deeanne’s pieces were singled out for the story highlighting the fact that her 20 paintings were sold out by the second day!

Curator for the exhibition, Rachael Inch commented "These works are to be marvelled. They will captivate you and take you back in time to tell a meaningful story about a modern world that will connect with the heart and leave you wanting for more. In line with the consistent successes of Terrace Downs Art in 2011, Deanne’s works are well priced for everybody and definitely worthy of investment. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of attending an exhibition, then please join us in a welcoming atmosphere on Opening night to launch our 2012 exhibitions and show support to this wonderful creative who has travelled to our district for us to experience her style."
