Lower Hutt man charged in connection to bar fight

A man is appearing in the Lower Hutt District Court this morning charged in relation to an incident at a bar last night.

Detective Sergeant Anthony Tebbutt of the Lower Hutt CIB says Police were called to the Fitzroy Tavern in Wainuiomata around 10:30pm last night, after a fight broke out between two rival gang members.

"As a result of the incident, a 30 year old man received stab wounds to his stomach and leg. He is currently in hospital however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening."

A 50 year old man will appear in Court today charged with assault with a weapon.
