Body found in Turangi River

At about 3pm this afternoon a body of a male was found in the Turangi River.

It is believed to be that of a fisherman and there do not appear to be suspicious circumstance.

He has been removed from the river and taken to Turangi where further enquires will be made.

Police will not be making any further comment until the body has been identified and next of kin informed.
