Wairarapa Police have arrested three young men in relation to an alleged crime spree in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Detective Sergeant Tracey Calder of the Wairarapa CIB says it's alleged the males, aged 14, 15 and 17 years, were involved in stealing two cars in Masterton overnight on the 23rd of April, before committing a burglary at the Horseshoe Cafe and Bottle Store, where a quantity of alcohol was stolen.

"It's then alleged they drove to another bottle store in Carterton and used one of the stolen vehicles to ram the front window, however the alarm was activated and the offenders fled."

Detective Sergeant Calder says some petrol drive-offs were also committed in Masterton and Carterton before the vehicle headed over the Rimutaka Hill, towards Wellington.

"The vehicle was then stopped by Upper Hutt Police on Tuesday mid-morning. Those arrested face multiple charges including burglary, theft and unlawful taking. Further arrests are likely."

The 14 and 15 year olds will appear in the Masterton Youth Court on Monday and the 17 year old male will appear in the Masterton District Court on Monday.
