Rodney Police are continuing their enquiries into an armed incident at an address in Whangaparäoa Road where a firearm was used by an alleged intruder.

Police went to the address at about 2350 hours last night Wednesday 2 May 2012. On arrival they found that a male occupant of the property had received wounds to his right thigh and right hand.  Other occupants at the house were not injured.

Police say the unknown male offender entered the house via an unlocked ranch slider door at the rear of the property. There was a brief confrontation between the offender and the only male occupant of the house during which a firearm was presented at the victim.

The offender left the property and soon after the victim heard a gun discharge resulting in injuries to his leg and hand. Police say the weapon used was a sawn off shotgun. A description of the alleged male offender has been issued.
