Tauranga Police investigate Welcome Bay shooting

Tauranga Police are investigating a shooting in Meander Drive Welcome Bay.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg TURNER said that a 43 year old man was being treated at Tauranga Hospital after receiving shot gun pellets in the head at about 9 pm on Monday night.

The injuries are not considered life threatening.

The Detective Senior Sergeant said the shooting had occurred at a residential address, and that the injured person was shot through a closed glass door by an unidentified gunman.

Police want to speak to any one who may have been in the southern end of Meander Drive or the surrounding alleys and streets between 8 and 9 pm on Monday night.
