Time is running out to enter Air New Zealand’s Great Walker competition.  With only a few days left to be in to experience the adventure of a lifetime entries have already been received from Invercargill to Iceland – and many points in between.

Air New Zealand is searching for The Great Walker in association with New Zealand’s Department of Conservation (DOC).  Together they’re challenging keen walkers, trekkers and hikers to demonstrate why they deserve to win a place on this wild adventure by uploading a short YouTube video or a Pinterest board of inspiring images.

Four global winners will take on New Zealand’s nine premier DOC tracks in nine weeks.  The Great Walks span 550km of stunning New Zealand terrain from alpine peaks to glacial valleys, native bush, rainforests and golden beaches.

Every year about 75,000 people from New Zealand and around the world enjoy these internationally renowned wilderness experiences - Abel Tasman Coast, Heaphy, Kepler, Lake Waikaremoana, Milford, Rakiura, Routeburn, Tongariro Northern Circuit and Whanganui Journey.  Each track takes between three and five days to complete.

Entries for The Great Walker will remain open at until 5.00pm, Monday 22 October, 2012 (NZ Time).  Shortlisted entries will then be available on the website for others to view through until the official judging panel convenes.  The Great Walker winners will travel to New Zealand in February 2013 to complete the epic Kiwi adventure of a lifetime.
