Gyrocopter Crash

Two men walked from the water 200m from the end of the runway at Tauranga airport after their gyrocopter lost power at 500' shortly after take-off at 1.30p.m. and landed in the shallows.

One of the men, both believed to be in their 60s, has been taken to hospital as a precaution but niether are understood to have been seriously injured.

The incident has been passed to CAA for investigation.
