Mayor Neil Volzke hosted the fifth Stratford District Trade Graduation Ceremony on Thursday 1 November at the Council Chambers. With more than 50 people in attendance, 22 local residents, who had completed a trade this year, were recognised for their achievement.

"This graduation is a great way to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of the people who have shown commitment and completed training in their chosen occupation. This can only lead to better employment opportunities for them, and it adds to the skill base of the New Zealand workforce. Skilled trades people can earn a very good income and enjoy great job satisfaction as well.", says Mayor Neil Volzke. "I’d also like to acknowledge and thank all the employers for giving these people an opportunity to get ahead. Often this is at some initial cost to the business, but the return on that investment is very gratifying in many ways."

The trade graduation ceremonies were established by the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs to officially recognise and celebrate those who complete a trade.
