WELLINGTON CITY

The world's first super-cool and super-light folding electric bicycle and award-winning Kiwi invention, the yikebike, is just one of the innovations that will be on show at the Smart Energy Expo in Wellington next weekend (Friday 23 - Saturday 24 November).

We've teamed up with the Sustainable Electricity Association of New Zealand and the Association for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles to hold the expo, which will be the first of its kind in New Zealand.

Mayor Celia Wade-Brown says the expo is a great opportunity for Wellingtonians to see smart and clean technology first-hand.

"It's a perfect fit for our smart capital and encourages uptake of new ideas. Innovative technologies save energy and money while keeping people warm and comfortable - and they provide convenient ways of getting around."

The expo will feature New Zealand and international exhibitors, with solar, New Zealand's own wind and hydro energy systems for home and industry, insulation and eco-housing, the launch of finance offerings from Kiwibank for these technologies as well as workshops and seminars.

The latest electric vehicles - cars, bikes and scooters - will be on display, featuring the awesome new Holden Volt.

If you register online, you'll get free entry to the expo and a chance to win Sharp's latest SMART 52-inch LED television. Attend the expo and find out how you can win a yikebike.
